Singing Coaching

Ben has a busy private practice, and has wide experience working with singers as a singing coach and accompanist, regularly preparing professional and amateur performers of all ages for auditions and performances. A versatile performer and excellent sight-reader, his work in many of London’s leading performing arts colleges has included musical and choral direction, singing coaching, accompaniment, lecturing, and auditioning hundreds of prospective undergraduate students.

Ben has worked as a coach for colleges and courses including the Arts Educational Schools (London), Mountview Academy of Musical Theatre, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, GSA Conservatoire, the London College of Music, the Royal Academy of Music, Birkbeck College, Kingston University, Brooklands College, Benslow Music Trust, the Earnley Concourse and the Appledown Centre.

Ben has a substantial and ever-increasing library containing hundreds of musical theatre and classical vocal scores. His studio in South-West London is located only 15 minutes train journey from London Waterloo, or 10 minutes from Clapham Junction.

Current rates: £40 per session.

Piano Tuition

Ben is an ISM Registered Piano Teacher, with full CRB clearance. He also offers coaching in music theory, musicianship, and repertoire for piano duet and duo.

Alison Pearce

Alison Pearce and Ben Costello have been performing together for over ten years and have given recitals and masterclasses across the UK and beyond. Alison has a distinguished international career as a soprano soloist in oratorio, opera and recital. She appears with the world's leading conductors and orchestras at major venues and festivals as well as broadcasting for radio and television in many countries. She is a professor in the vocal department of the Royal Academy of Music and the artistic director of a European summer school for singers.

Heather Keens

Ben has been collaborating with Heather Keens since 2006. Together they can jointly offer advanced sessions to professional and amateur singers in performance and audition preparation. Heather is a performer, singing teacher and qualified voice teacher. Her performing career has taken her around the world, singing in both Opera and Music Theatre, and she currently teaches at the University of Surrey. She also tutors and consults for the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and has worked in a variety of training institutions as an external examiner.

 

Christopher Goldsack MA PGCE

Christopher Goldsack

Christopher Goldsack and Ben Costello have worked together for a number of years. A physics graduate of Cambridge University, Christopher studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and then at the Lyon Opera Studio. Widely acclaimed as a baritone and an expert in French song, he was acting Head of Voice at the London College of Music and gives masterclasses on French song at the Guildhall School of Music. Christopher has years of experience working with young voices, directing many workshop ensembles of young singers, and he currently runs the Promenade Choirs.
